Santa Cruz and Soquel Creek Water District have signed a 5 year contract for Santa Cruz to transfer water to Soquel Creek at the rate of up to 200 million gallons during Winter and Spring.  The Soquel Creek Water District is completing flushing of its main lines without water waste and will be ready to receive water at the rate of 1.5 million gallons per day at the onset of Winter.

The Water amount that is actually transferred depends on several factors.  Key among them is the likelihood that the Loch Lomond reservoir will be filled and spilling by April 1, of 2017.  The Loch Lomond Reservoir was a 91.7% of capacity on August 31, 2016 and will surely be above 80% at December 1.  This augurs well for Loch Lomond to completely refill this coming winter.

Should this pilot project work well, additional water could be made available by Santa Cruz for Transfer, either for immediate use or storage.
