Finding a source of drinkable water is hard work for the Water Department.
Our water supply cannot come from the San Lorenzo river. Notice the mud in the main stream of the river, compared to the water coming in at the right…from Branciforte creek. San Lorenzo River is flowing about 6,000 c.f.s, 10 am Feb. 20, 2017.
Here is Laguna Creek at noon on February 20, 2017. No source of drinking water here.
This is the spillway at the bottom of Loch Lomond. The best water for Santa Cruz in periods of extensive rain comes from deep in the reservoir and from wells in the aquifers in both the Santa Margarita and the Purisima formations.
